and the winner is…

Ceci n’est pas une pipe

Rene Magritte once said. And people keep working on that concept disguised in this ‘new age school of thought’ still spinning around the concept of arbitrariness of language.

It is, but… we had to find a single word for a particular concept or object otherwise we’d be pointing at stuff like monkeys, wouldn’t we?

Wrong? (I meant ‘right’)

cita – borges

el arrabal es el reflejo de nuestro tedio

mis pasos claudicaron

cuando ibana pisar el horizonte

y quede entre las casas,

cuadriculadas en manzanas

diferentes e iguales

como si fueran todas ellas

monotonos recuerdos repetidos

de una sola manzana.

el pastito precario,

desesperadamente esperanzado,

salpicaba las piedras de la calle

y divise en la hondura

los naipes de colores del poniente

y senti Buenos Aires.

esta ciudad que yo crei mi pasado

es mi porvenir, mi presente;

los anios que he vivido en Europa son ilusorios,

yo estaba siempre (y estare) en Buenos Aires.

El Arrabal

Fervor de Buenos Aires

Jorge Luis Borges

open your eyes

All this feels strange and untrue
And I won’t waste a minute without you
My bones ache, my skin feels cold
And I’m getting so tired and so old

The anger swells in my guts
And I won’t feel these slices and cuts
I want so much to open your eyes
‘Cause I need you to look into mine

Tell me that you’ll open your eyes [x4]

Get up, get out, get away from these liars
‘Cause they don’t get your soul or your fire
Take my hand, knot your fingers through mine
And we’ll walk from this dark room for the last time

Every minute from this minute now
We can do what we like anywhere
I want so much to open your eyes
‘Cause I need you to look into mine

Tell me that you’ll open your eyes [x8]

All this feels strange and untrue
And I won’t waste a minute without you

New downtown miami!!! coming soon?

At a time when banks and builders are struggling for survival, two developers are seeking government approval for Miami Worldcenter — a nine-block, 25-acre mixed used project that would be Miami’s biggest urban development in years. (source

I think this should have been done years ago. If protecting nature from concrete monsters is the issue: that’s long gone. Take the beach, for example. That’s the area of the city that should have remained the most virgin, and it’s natural features enhanced and not hidden, forbidden, privitized, etcetera. Once that wasn’t done, the least that this city should have is a center area worthy of that coastal skyline. On the contrary, what Downtown Miami has become (or stayed as) is a dirty, unsecure, disfunctional, wasted, indecipherable giant block of land, to which thousands of unnoticed tourist arrive daily for common first city visit sense… and leave for common sense, too.
I’d say start digging those holes 24/7, don’t worry about the noise, we’re more than use to it.

my critique

I say… (and I’m just saying don’t turn all bob marley on me, okay? we’re all on the same side…) I wish, I hope, I EXPECT! that all these new shows that kind of sicken the very naif, untouched, virgin -outnumbered- portion of my moral, actually have a POINT.

I had this overdose, in the last few days, of shows like Californication, Weeds, some get-togethers with my friends (oh yeah! that’s a show, trust me), and so on. To be honest, I’m sick of what this society has become. It’s too much, I can’t enjoy a show without asking myself: Who the hell are those kids parents that let them act in such an adult oriented show?

Okay, besides that… I don’t wanna take such a distance from you guys that might be thinking “how old is this nerd?” no, I’m young, and I have common sense, and I go out pretty often; that’s not the point.

I just want to think of these shows’ writers as visionaries, I can’t bring myself to believe that they address certain topics just cause they’re cool and trendy to attract viewers , cause if this is the case……………………………… It’s depressing.

Now, on the other side, (my optimistic side) I think that there’s an actual severe criticism of society portrayed by the writers and producers by making a mockery of it, and that they are not robotic mainstream followers. And after this is done, automatically two types of viewers are being born: The shallow ones and the critics.

Shallow viewers: laugh, imitate, adore, follow, and copy the shows creed and characters’ attitudes and lifestyles (in some extreme cases even create  fan clubs, and shed tears on red carpets)

Critics: applaud the excellence of the artistic demonstration and the extraordinary ‘in between the lines’ analysis of society. They’d see the show as a friend and not as a stupid fast-growing virus.
